A collab that’s a bit of a no-brainer
With asking prices hovering well into six-figure USD territory, it would be fair to assume that many of the buyers of the legendary Italian sports car powerhouse Lamborghini are some fairly discerning individuals who like stylish and cool clothes as well.
Though it may seem that they operate in completely separate worlds, the most prominent players in fashion and cars often collaborate, or at the very least, find lots of inspiration from each other. For example, Ralph Lauren frequently incorporates automotive themes into his work and has a museum-worthy collection of rare classic motors.

From the runway to the raceway
Originally teased on the runway at Paris Fashion Week in March, Balenciaga, one of the oldest names in fashion, is formally rolling out its collaboration with Lamborghini with a wide collection of ready-to-wear clothes and accessories. The collection itself blends elements of Lamborghini’s high-performance automotive aesthetics with the avant-garde (and often controversial) stylings of creative director Demna Gvasalia.

Clothing pieces include the typical Balenciaga fare that Denma has made notorious, including super-oversized racing and bomber jackets with Lamborghini branding, graphic t-shirts and hoodies featuring Lamborghini Temerario artwork, and distressed baseball caps.
The collection also includes Lamborghini-branded wallets and card holders, as well as special versions of some of Balenciaga’s well-known leather bags. These include the large Rodeo handbag, the Hourglass pocket-sized handbag, the Explorer backpack, and the Carrie bag, which are adorned with Automobili Lamborghini Shield emblems and/or charms.
As for accessories, Balenciaga injects Lamborghini branding into some avant-garde and camp pieces. Highlights include necklaces and handbag charms styled to look like Temerario car fobs, Lamborghini Temerario and Balenciaga shoelace bracelets, Lamborghini-branded western belts, signet rings, and leather travel neck pillows.

These clothes won’t come cheap
The collection is available for purchase at select Balenciaga stores worldwide and on its website, but buyers should be warned that the price tags on the items from the collaboration between Balenciaga and Lamborghini will make some casual observers feel like they’re buying an actual Lamborghini.
The cool oversized T-shirt with Lamborghini Temerario artwork on the model costs $750, while a hoodie featuring the Lamborghini logo costs $1,090. The priciest clothing item in the collection is a black leather oversized bomber jacket that retails at $7,590.
The priciest item overall is the large Rodeo handbag, which costs $8,500 and comes with decorative Lamborghini charms. On the other hand, the least costly item offered is a $125 “Automobili Lamborghini Travel Mug,” a porcelain cup styled to look like a to-go coffee cup.

Final thoughts
As someone who likes to dabble in fashion as a hobby, I feel that the link between Lamborghini and Balenciaga complements each other, given the respective brand images they have created. Lamborghini is not a stranger to lending its logos and aesthetics to well-known fashion brands; in 2020, it was tapped by the notorious New York City-based skate brand Supreme.
To celebrate the launch of the new collection, Lamborghini will display Revueltos with Balenciaga graffiti decals outside flagship stores in major cities such as Paris, Shanghai, New York, Miami, Tokyo, Dubai, and Seoul. Additionally, special Lamborghini art pieces will be exhibited in select stores. Automobili Lamborghini driving simulators by Vesaro, which use real Lamborghini components, will also be installed in Balenciaga flagships in Paris, London, and Shanghai.
