First of 25 ‘Eleanor’ Mustangs From Gone in 60 Seconds Heads to Auction

The Ford Mustang isn’t only an icon in the automotive world – it’s also a star in Hollywood, having appeared in films like 2014’s John Wick and Need for Speed. But perhaps its most iconic role came in the 2000’s Gone in 60 Seconds, where the 1967 Mustang Fastback “Eleanor” became a legend in its own right. So legendary, in fact, that Cinema Muscle Recreations built a limited run of 25 “Eleanor” continuation cars – and the first production example (Series No. 1) is now heading to auction via Mecum Auctions.

Bringing the project to life wasn’t as straightforward as it may seem. Denice Halicki, who owns the rights to the original 1974 Gone in 60 Seconds, argued that “Eleanor” was a copyrightable character – meaning even Shelby couldn’t legally build a tribute or replica.

However, in 2025, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Eleanor was simply a movie prop, effectively clearing the way for licensed recreations. The decision allowed Cinema Muscle Recreations – the same team involved with the original movie cars – to move forward with its 25th-anniversary production run.

Built to Be More Than a Movie Star

While a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 comes standard, Series No. 1 is equipped with the optional sixth-generation Stage II 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, along with the optional Tremec six-speed manual transmission. The drivetrain also features a Fab9 g-Bar Ford 9-inch rear end, though power ratings were not listed.

The suspension features G-Machine front control arms and Total Control Products adjustable coilover shocks at all four corners. Forgeline 18-inch wheels – wrapped in Nitto NT55 tires – are paired with Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, utilizing six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers.

Time to Go Baby Go

Inside, the cabin features monogrammed deluxe front seats with 25th-anniversary badging throughout. It also includes a faux roll cage and a hand-crank window mechanism, even though it is equipped with power windows. In a nod to the film, the transmission lever is topped with a “Go Baby Go” button, referencing the switch Randall “Memphis” Raines (Nicolas Cage) used in Gone in 60 Seconds to activate the nitrous system for an extra boost.

Serial No. 1 of the 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor Fastback 25th Anniversary Edition is scheduled to cross the block at Indy 2026 on May 16. It’s listed as one of the event’s main attractions, joining other notable lots such as a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am and one of just six Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 S Edition Roadsters.
